Hydrotherapy awareness camp
A hydrotherapy camp held to mark Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month.

- Date
- 27 September 2026
- Location
- Nehru Stadium indoor pool, Chennai
To mark World Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month, TNMDA organised a hydrotherapy camp at the indoor swimming pool at Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The camp introduced members and their families to the benefits of water-based therapy in a safe, supported setting.
Hydrotherapy uses the buoyancy and warmth of water to support movement with less strain on muscles and joints. For people living with muscular dystrophy, it can help maintain mobility, ease stiffness and build confidence in the water. Physiotherapists and trained volunteers guided members through gentle exercises in the pool.
The camp was also an awareness programme. Families learned about muscular dystrophy, the importance of early care and the role of rehabilitation in daily life. Members registered on the day, received guidance and took part in discussions with the team.
We were joined by guests R. Balaji, Assistant Director at the office of the State Commissioner for the Differently Abled, and A.N.S. Prasad, Founder of the Suryaprasad Seva Foundation. Their presence and encouragement meant a great deal to our members.
